Fibromyalgia can co-exist with Osteoarthritis as well as, a variety of rheumatic diseases. In certain reports, up to 30-40% of patients with rheumatoid arthritis can secondarily develop Fibromyalgia,. What we believe is happening here is that patients who have chronic pain syndromes from arthritis can develop a more generalized pain syndrome which is what characterizes fibromyalgia.
