Are ultrasounds done in the first trimester?

Ultrasounds are occasionally done in the first trimester to estimate the due date and make sure everything in your uterus looks healthy. They are also sometimes used with genetic testing methods that examine the baby and look for genetic information in your blood. If you have been treated for infertility, they may be done to determine if you are carrying more than one baby. You will get more ultrasounds later in the pregnancy when the baby has developed more and is larger.
