When people are taking a melatonin supplement, they should never take over 1 mg. It's should usually taken an approximately 90 minutes before bedtime and it's difficult to find. Now what we're seeing is that the dosages out there range from anywhere from 1 mg all the way up to 10 mg, so be very specific when you're going out and getting your melatonin and make sure that it's only 1 mg.
