Alzheimer's disease has long been a mystery that scientists have worked to unravel. Although it's far from solved, HealthMaker William Mobley, MD, PhD, talks in this video about progress in understanding the disease.
I think worth a beginning, but I think it's a strong beginning. I think the work that we're doing as a field, is giving us a lot of insights into those early events, into those mechanisms and genes that make a difference. It's not enough to say that we've nailed the fundamental hypothesis yet, I don't think we've done that, at least it's not as detailed and hypothesis as we'd like to have, but I think we know enough about the system to know the kinds of things that, I think we've good questions now. I think we've really good questions, and we've got some of the answers.
William Mobley, MD, PhD, is chair of the Department of Neurosciences at UCSD and a leading expert on Down syndrome and Alzheimer's disease. He discusses the surprising link between Down syndrome and Alzheimer's.
