Is the treatment different for each type of rosacea?

Dr. Mehmet Oz, MD
Cardiology (Cardiovascular Disease)
Treatment for rosacea varies depending on the type of rosacea and the symptoms. For example, oral and topical antibiotics are often prescribed to treat the acne-like lesions of rosacea. Oral antibiotics can also help clear some eye symptoms of rosacea, but eye washes or baby shampoo, and steroid eye drops, may also be prescribed. Surgery or laser treatments are often the best therapies for reducing visible blood vessels and skin thickening, including the excessive tissue growth in rhinophyma (enlargement of the nose).
