Apremilast (Otezla) is a medication that acts on the immune system to reduce inflammation. It is taken as a pill. It is approved by the FDA to treat active psoriatic arthritis. It is also approved to treat moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. 
Apremilast helps treat psoriatic arthritis by reducing joint swelling, tenderness and pain. It is used to treat people with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.
