Atripla may cause both liver and kidney damage. Because your body gets rid of components of Atripla through your kidneys, taking other drugs eliminated through the kidneys may cause an unsafe buildup of these drugs in your body. If you have hepatitis B infection (HBV) while taking Atripla and then stop taking the drug, your HBV may get worse, causing liver damage.
