I have definitely had my fair share of stigma when it comes to my HIV journey. [UPBEAT MUSIC]
As a person of color living with HIV, from medical providers, I've definitely had my fair share of stigma and discrimination.
There's so much stigma around being HIV-positive. And so there's a lot of, like, much around clean and dirty.
And just even recently, I went-- underwent a gender affirming procedure. And one of the nurses, the first thing
she asked me in my aftercare was, are you undetectable? Even though, like, I had already completed
all the necessary paperwork to be proven undetectable. It's important for me to-- to fight the stigma on HIV
because I live it. There is not a lot of people really advocating about HIV. One of the biggest stigmas is the-- the mode
of transmission and realizing that anyone, any time there's different ways people
can be impacted with HIV. This is not just a queer cause. It's not just a trans cause. It's not just a person of color cause.
