Your doctor will perform a physical examination, with an interest in finding any specific problems in the areas involved in sexual function. This means making sure there are no problems in the penis, the prostate, or the testicles.
The nerves to the genital area and penis are checked in simple, no painful tests. Even though it’s important for erection, it is not easy on physical exam to accurately measure blood supply to the penis. But the arterial supply to the legs and feet is easily tested and if abnormal, can give a good idea that arterial circulation may also be limited to the penis.
