Finding passion with Richard Leider

Curiosity really drives purpose. [MUSIC PLAYING]
When I break it all down, the little p, purpose, is a verb, something we actually do.
It's a path that has your name on it that feeds your curiosity.
And it's a practice. It's something that allows us to use our gifts on things we feel purposeful or passionate about in environments
that fit who we are. The formula that I use is this.
It's G plus P plus V equals C. G stands for gifts.
What are your most enjoyed gifts? P stands for passion. What are you curious about?
What would you like to use your gifts in the service of? And the V stands for values, or another word
is voice, the culture, the place where you actually do what you do. So if you get up tomorrow morning and ask yourself,
why am I doing this? And you say, am I using my gifts for things I love to do, on things I feel passionate, purposeful, or curious about
in an environment where I have a voice that's healthy for me, not toxic for me? That equals C, your calling.
And calling is another word for-- it's a vocational word for purpose. [MUSIC PLAYING]
To unlock the power of purpose, one has to first of all believe they might have a purpose.
Then the question is, well, how do you discern your gifts? Acknowledge that you have gifts, whether you
think you were born to them or you acquire them. Here are four ways to notice what your gifts are.
Number one, a gift is a talent that you naturally enjoy doing.
Second thing about a gift is that others observe you doing it effortlessly and superbly.
And the third thing-- this is a biggie-- you can't recall learning it. I don't know if I was born with it, Richard,
but I've been doing it since I was a kid. And the fourth thing is we love learning and practicing it.
[MUSIC PLAYING] Oftentimes we dismiss our gifts because we
don't have a gold star or gold medal, a certificate, a degree in it.
We just do it less effortlessly and joyfully and naturally and superbly.
And there are certain ways you can be sure that those are your gifts. But the starting point is to say, wow, I do have gifts,
happiness
