answer
You should not take the dietary supplement acetyl-L-carnitine if you are on blood-thinning drugs such as warfarin (Coumadin). This supplement also interacts with several other medications, so be sure to tell your doctor or pharmacist about all your supplements and prescription and over-the-counter drugs before starting acetyl-L-carnitine.

Acetyl-L-carnitine is not known to be safe for children or for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. You should also avoid this supplement if you have hypothyroidism (low thyroid levels) or a history of seizures. If you have any medical condition, be sure to talk with your doctor before taking acetyl-L-carnitine or any other dietary supplement.
