What is indinavir?

Indinavir is the active ingredient in Crixivan, a protease inhibitor which stops one of the processes required by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) to replicate. It is used to treat the HIV infection and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Indinavir is usually taken in combination with several other drugs to treat HIV and AIDS.
