Hypnosis for stress relief
Transcript
MIKE DOW: To transform your stress, your anxiety, you can begin now by gently gazing at the screen
and just allowing yourself with drowsy eyes and some part of you can listen to my voice and some part of you
can go somewhere else in your mind's eye as you tend to do, as you daydream.
And now, you can imagine that you are lying on your back and with a drowsy gaze.
Like you are moving down a well or floating off in space, 30, 40 feet.
Yes, you can feel that. Can't you? Becoming so dreamy and so relaxed. 60, 70 feet, away from stress, away from anxiety.
80, 90, 100. Yes, that's right. Floating away, floating away from the conscious worries
into a state, a state that feels dreamy, so dreamy, so deep, so relaxed. And now, you can allow the eyelids to fully close if that
feels comfortable for you. And if you'd like, you can enhance this relaxation. And I wonder now, can you visualize yourself as a tree?
And a tree, of course, has branches. And a tree goes through seasons. And isn't it so nice to know?
And isn't it so wonderful and isn't it so incredible that you, this majestic tree,
through the storms, through the clouds of life, are here? You are here.
You are rooted. You are majestic. You are unmoving. And now, you can feel the sun.
And there, just there, the first bud of spring
blooming on you, moving within you. And now, all over you, you can feel
the blooms of leaves and flowers and fruit.
You can feel that. Can't you? Something has changed. Hasn't it? You are stronger in some way.
Aren't you? Yes, that's right. Whenever you'd like to be reminded of your resilience,
whenever you need to come back, all you need to do
is return, visualizing yourself as this incredible rooted tree.
And when you'd like to take a little piece of this practice into your waking life, you can imagine
that, in your dominant hand, is a bud, a leaf, or a flower.
And you can close the dominant hand into a fist and squeeze it. And you can imagine that, in that dominant hand,
is a leaf or a flower that represents all of your strength, all of your talents,
all of your resilience. And a little piece of this practice can come flooding back to you in your waking life.
Isn't that so wonderful? Isn't that so nice to know? Because you have achieved so much.
You have survived so much. You have learned so much in your life. Haven't you?
And you can return to this place whenever you'd like. And so now, you can imagine that you are moving back up.
Walking back up a set of stairs that will take you back into your waking life.
And you will emerge and you will awaken refreshed, rejuvenated,
knowing that you can handle any storm,
any cloud that life throws at you. Walking up a flight of stairs, two, three, with your shoulders
held high, with a confidence and a strength becoming more awake and alert. Four, five, beginning to open the eyes.
Six, beginning to return to the body. Seven, eight. Consciousness coming back to you, into the body,
squarely, firmly, eyes fully open now. Nine, here you are, awake, alert,
ready to face anything that life has in store for you.
