Seeking out a doctor of color as a hepatitis C patient

I've been seeking a provider of color for a while. For a long time, like, I was hoping
that I would have doctors who could put themselves in my shoes even culturally, to understand how to give me space
to, like, advocate for my own health. Every single individual who experiences hep C has their own individual unique trauma that I think
should be well addressed in the health care field and by a primary care physician who understands the disease and understands giving someone access
to many modalities of healing instead of just a pill to cure it. What if medication adherence was fitness, or family planning,
or access to housing security, and food security, and how to have nutrition while living with a chronic condition?
And once you're cured from this, how do you build a life for that as well? I think that does require a primary care physician who
can relate more than anything. And if relation requires that physician
to be a person of color, I understand that. I can understand people feeling that way.
I have felt that way for many years. [GENTLE MUSIC] [AUDIO LOGO]
