I started asking for help in order to build a better life in regards to my mental health,
how to heal my physical body, and I've been given so many tools to do that.
My advocacy for my own health has grown into community advocacy.
I have people tell me stories about how they get diagnosed with pre-diabetes. They ask their doctor for a referral
to a diabetes dietician. I mean, what if we had that for people living with hep C. It could also be, well, what if we started
helping heal these communities that are experiencing the traumas that lead to this? And like healing people of substance use?
I think that's the kind of way that we heal communities. Because like, I don't think that people living
with a chronic condition need to, like, walk around acting like they're so tough and they're invincible. Like, this is an actual thing that kills people and has
killed people. And I think that in order to end this epidemic, it's going to take millions of people to come together
and say, hey, we want to create these safety nets where we give people the capacity to talk to us about what
they need to live. [MUSIC PLAYING]
