You do not necessarily inherit a seafood allergy, but your family members still might be to blame for your allergies. Once someone in your family develops an allergy, the risk of others in the family developing an allergy goes up. This holds true for any allergy-your parents do not need to have a seafood allergy for you to develop one, they just need to have some type of allergy.
