What is scalp psoriasis?

Scalp psoriasis is a skin disease that occurs when skin cells build up on the scalp, creating patches that may be red and itchy or may have thick, silvery scales. The disease may be caused by problems with the immune system. Half or more of all people who have psoriasis have it on the scalp. Scalp psoriasis is chronic, meaning it lasts a lifetime, but it's common for symptoms to come and go throughout one's life.
