What kind of doctor can perform liposuction surgery?

Stuart A. Linder, MD
Stuart A. Linder, MD
Plastic Surgery
answer
Liposuction is currently being performed by doctors of every specialty: dermatologists, ER doctors, head and neck doctors, general surgeons, gynecologists, etc. The question you must ask is, are they really properly trained to do this procedure safely? And if there is a complication, will they be able to determine what the problem is and how best to treat it? The answer in most cases is probably no. Even for something as seemingly simple as liposuction, you should choose a qualified, properly trained and experienced board-certified plastic surgeon.
