answer

Your surgeon will discuss returning to work with you during your office visit approximately one month after surgery.

General guidelines for returning to work:

  • limited office time/work at home -- two weeks after discharge
  • full-time office work/light housework -- four to eight weeks after discharge
  • traveling sales work/full housework -- 6 to 10 weeks after discharge
  • factory work with light lifting -- 8 to 12 weeks after discharge
  • unlimited, heavy manual labor -- four to six months after discharge

Please note these are only guidelines. Everyone recovers at a different rate and in their own time. Each individual will regain full strength at different times. It is in your best interest to pace yourself and use common sense when returning to work.
