How are seizures in athletes treated?

The treatment plan for seizures depends on the cause, which needs to be determined by a medical doctor. If the cause is something treatable such as an electrolyte imbalance due to dehydration, then the problem could be easily resolved and the athlete could potentially return to play once it is determined that he or she is not at risk for another seizure. For people with epilepsy, medication can be given to decrease the likelihood of seizures.
