What happens if I stop taking carbidopa-levodopa?

Even if you start feeling better, it is important that you continue taking carbidopa-levodopa. If you abruptly stop taking the medicine, you run the risk of serious complications, including a potentially fatal condition known as neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Talk to your doctor. If you do decide to discontinue carbidopa-levodopa, you will be instructed on how to gradually reduce the dosage.
