Can acne be prevented?

Although acne can't really be prevented, good general skin care habits can help make skin as healthy as possible. Use a mild soap or cleanser to wash the face once or twice a day. Don't use harsh soaps or scrub too hard, because that can actually just irritate the skin more and lead to more acne. Use water-based cosmetics, since oil-based makeup is thicker and can clog pores more easily. A balanced diet also helps the skin-even though specific foods don't cause acne, a nutritious diet, including lots of water, can help keep skin healthy.
