answer
In group therapy, multiple people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) come together to discuss life with ADHD. This form of therapy can be helpful as people with ADHD learn strategies and coping skills from other people with the condition. The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry lists the following types of therapy groups for people with ADHD:
  • social skills training
  • substance abuse
  • family or multi-family groups
  • groups for parents
  • psychodynamic
In a group therapy session, one or two therapists educate people with ADHD about life with the disorder. By meeting others with similar problems, people with ADHD begin to feel less isolated and better supported in their communities.
