Dx Dialogues: Common and emerging treatments for CRSwNP
Purvi Parikh, MD, discusses common and emerging treatments for CRSwNP.

In my practice, common treatments for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps include treatment of the polyps themselves
with nasal steroid sprays, antihistamines. [SOFT MUSIC]
And then also a medication called dupilumab. Dupilumab is a monoclonal antibody
that targets IL-4 and IL-13, which are inflammatory markers that are responsible in a lot of nasal polyp formation.
Anti-IL-5 treatments, such as benralizumab and mepolizumab, target eosinophilic disease.
And they are currently under study for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. Studies are showing promising results.
Trials are looking at targeting upstream cytokines such as TSLP
and IL-33. So targeting upstream cytokines would provide broader coverage of inflammation, whereas with dupilumab or benralizumab
or mepolizumab, your targeting is more nuanced, and it's more direct. So this would target a much broader pathway.
