Integrative Medicine Specialist Dr. Tasneem Bhatia explains what phosphatidylserine is and why it's healthy for you. Watch Dr. Bhatia's video for tips and information on integrative medicine solutions.
Phosphatidylserine is a supplement, it's a phospholipid, so that means it has a job of moving nutrients into cells and that typically, what typically happens in stress, is you rob the body of nutrients. The Phosphatidylserine comes in, moves those nutrients into the cells, really helps produce neurotransmitters like dopamine so that we feel good under stressful conditions and we can focus a little bit better rather than running around unable to think or unable to function or walking in, what a lot of patients will call, brain fog.
Tasneem Bhatia, MD, is medical director of the Atlanta Center for Holistic and Integrative Medicine. She is a pediatrician and emergency medicine physician.
