Doing mini-workouts over the course of the day can help you burn more calories. But squeezing in those extra walks, lunges or stair climbs requires the right attitude. In this video, Michael Roizen, MD, explains why attitude is important.
Hi, Dr. Mike Roizen here with a super simple exercise tip that will keep you much younger. Working little bits of activity in the day, walking to a coworkers cube instead of calling, opting for the stairs over the escalator, it's just as important than doing formal exercise, but how much of it you do may depend on your mind, not your muscles. It's all about attitude.
If you have a positive attitude about an activity, it translates automatically into doing more workouts everyday, and if you think exercise is a good thing, you'll do more everyday like parking farther from the supermarket entrance. That can add up to an impressive extra calorie burn, plus lower your risk for Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, wrinkles, and degree sexual function, so nudge yourself a little.
Walk around while you talk on the phone. Put a stationary bike in front of a TV, sit on an exercise ball when you're answering emails, keep it all fun by strapping on the pedometer and challenge yourself to build that 10, 000 steps everyday from a combination of scheduled and accidental walks. More ways to stay younger, watch all of our smart tips, they're right here.
