I'll say this. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there.
My journey to receive a diagnosis was very difficult, because the problem with psoriatic disease
is that there really isn't a test. I went to see this dermatologist and she looked at me
like I was an alien. I hadn't had any relief. And then to be told I don't know what's wrong with you just made me feel like the Black face of statistical health problems.
And this one is something that nobody can seem to understand or figure out. Having to undress myself to show different parts of my body
and feeling like my skin is something that's horrifically disgusting to look at, it's definitely made me feel jaded
by the health and medical industry. As much as I appreciate it at times when it comes to sorting out a disease,
it has been a nightmare. I don't feel like access at large is accessible to people and specifically people of color.
It's the knowledge and the education that may be lacking but also the resources. My advice to others struggling with psoriatic arthritis
is to take it one day at a time. Don't suffer in silence and don't suffer alone. Find a community that is going to support you
