Can folic acid benefit heart disease?

Yes, the essential nutrient folic acid has been shown to improve cardiovascular health. This involves the heart and blood vessels. Low blood levels of folate are associated with increased homocysteine blood levels. Higher levels of the amino acid homocysteine may increase the development of cardiovascular problems. In particular, these higher levels may increase risks of stroke and heart disease.
