Are chest flyes a good exercise for getting cut and increasing definition?

Usually when someone mentions "cutting" they mean reducing their bodyfat levels low enough to see the muscle separation, in this case the horizontal bundles in the chest muscle. Resistance training exercises such as presses and flyes all work the chest, or pectoralis muscle. Whether or not you can actually see the separation of that muscle depends upon your bodyfat level. You can do endless flyes, but if you have fat over that muscle, you will not notice much definition in that area. There are those that are very lean (low bodyfat) that never work their chest muscles yet they show amazing separation. It is important to remember that it is bodyfat levels that determine degree of "cut" you can view in the mirror. The only way to get bodyfat levels lower is to reduce calories to less than what you burn on a regular basis. The addition of cardio may help in lowering subcutaneous bodyfat according to some research. This is the fat located below the skin. Continue with this approach, and as you lose fat it will eventually come from the chest and you will notice the definition you seek in that muscle.
