Is circuit training best for training peak conditioning in sports?

Circuit training is an effective form of conditioning for an athlete, however it may not always be the best form of conditioning - depending on the sport and the needs of the athlete. Circuit training is one form of resistance training that can help increase and enhance peak performance in an athlete. However, this is just one type of training, and to obtain optimal results, various forms of training should be incorporated in a comprehensive program. Athletes have different conditioning requirements based on the demands of their sport. Circuit training is best incorporated at the beginning of a training program as the athlete is building a foundation of endurance, strength, and cardiovascular fitness. However, as the training requirements become more specific, for instance an athlete working on increasing their maximal strength, circuit training may not allow enough rest for the athlete to recover and complete the training session effectively.
