Is Olympic lifting too risky for rugby players?

When including Olympic lifts into a rugby performance program make sure there are coaches or other professionals available to supervise you. Learning some of the Olympic lifts will aid in your development as a rugby athlete. Performing Olympic lifts teaches you the ability to apply force very quickly as well as faster and more efficient motor control. Always maintain a high level of quality while performing the Olympic lifts. Getting the most benefits is not dependent on how much you can lift right away. Focus on proper technique, and let the weight come with time. Always consider safer ways of executing these lifts especially when learning them. Olympic lifts are great to add into a performance training program as long as they are executed safely, you have the physical capabilities to perform them correctly (proper stability and flexibility), and with proper supervision.
