Endometriosis may double the risk of ovarian cancer. Now that might seem like a huge number, but it’s not the same as increasing the risk from 10% to 20%. You’re increasing the risk from maybe 1.5% to 2.5 or 3%. So there is that risk.
Most women who have endometriosis don’t even know they have it. It's probably a lot more common disease than doctors are aware of, and we're just working off data based on the cases where it is known that a woman with ovarian cancer knows she also has endometriosis.
