How can I hit the golf ball farther?

In order for a golfer to hit the ball farther, you must first focus on increased your core strength and must focus on your form when striking the golf ball.  First, core strength, increasing your strength must be done through rotational exercises.  Completing an exercise that requires either a controlled or explosive movement similar to your goal swing will aid in increasing your strength.  These movements mimic a golf swing but have an added resistance which is why the benefit can be so large.  Also, flexibility is very important.  When striking a golf ball, you are twisting through your hips and lower back.  If your body is constantly tight then you will not have as much rotation to strike to the ball.  Focus on increasing your core strength and improving your flexibility and you will be able to improve the distance of your drive.
The distance a ball travels after being hit is the result of the force of the club head and the speed of the club. Therefore, to hit farther, you must increase the force placed on the ball by either using a heavier club or increasing the speed at which you can swing the club. Let's remember that using a heavier club would require increased levels of strength to swing at the same speed. To swing faster would require an increase in total body power. Therefore, the solution lies somewhere in the middle. The first step is to select a club weight that is most appropriate. Then, focus your training program towards develop optimal levels of core stability and strength, lower extremity strength, and total body power. Lastly, swing mechanics and timing is essential. Making contact with the ball at the right time and place ultimately determines the distance.
