answer

Glucose is a type of sugar found in food. Galactose and fructose, two other types of sugars, combine with glucose and with each other to form longer chains of sugars. These chains of sugars are what make up carbohydrates. In the body, proteins break down these carbohydrates back into chains, and then into the smaller sugar components. Simple sugars, like in candy and many sweetened beverages are very quick to digest and cause a spike in the amount of sugar in the blood. Complex carbohydrates are found in whole grains like brown rice, digest slower allowing us to feel fuller longer.
