Currently (May 2011) The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that an average of 1 in 110 children in the U.S. have an autism spectrum disorder.

As many as 1 out of every 80 males in Utah are diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (autism affects boys 6 times more often than girls). In America and worldwide, it's the fastest growing developmental disability. The increase may be caused in part by growing awareness and broader criteria for diagnosis.

According to the Autism Society of America, Autism Spectrum Disorder occurs in about 1 of every 500 births, and four times more often in boys than girls. Families of all racial, ethnic and social backgrounds anywhere in the world are affected.
