Symptoms of arthritis include aching or pain of a joint, especially early in the morning when you first get up. Other symptoms include swelling or possibly a fluid collection in your joint. Symptoms that may indicate another more serious condition include sudden redness, pain and swelling of a joint.

Among the symptoms of arthritis, inflammation is usually mild, and joint stiffness is a prominent complaint. Typically, joint stiffness in the back, knees and hips is noticeable when rising in the morning and relieved by activity or a warm bath or shower. The symptoms are often aggravated by cool, damp weather.
