answer

Secondary amenorrhea can affect fertility because if your menstrual cycle has ceased it is very likely that you are not ovulating.

There are certain situations in which secondary amenorrhea occurs and your ability to get pregnant is not affected. For instance, some women who are breastfeeding do not experience a period but are still ovulating and may become pregnant without menstruating.

In many cases, seeing a doctor can correct secondary amenorrhea and establish your ability to ovulate, which will likely remedy your fertility issues. Treatment resulting in ovulation often involves correcting a hormone imbalance in the body by taking hormone supplements or having surgery to remove a tumor on glands that produce hormones.
