Drooling, or excessive saliva, is linked with a number of health conditions, including Parkinson’s disease. Drooling while sleeping, however, may be related to sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a disorder that causes a person to briefly stop breathing for a few seconds at different intervals throughout the night. Excess saliva is usually produced when the throat cannot swallow normally.
