The impact of VMS

You have to get up. You have to dry off. There's times that I'm outdoors when it's 20 degrees out just

because I'm so hot. [GENTLE MUSIC]

We give it cute names-- personal summer, your own island. But it is very much impactful-- very much.

Today, I have the privilege of speaking with Tasha and Ronni about their personal experiences with VMS.

Tell me a little bit more about these night sweats. Describe them for people. Let us feel what you feel.

So it literally feels like I have been set on fire from the crown of my head

to the tip of my feet. Then I am perspiring profusely, like dripping sweat to where I am soaking my bedsheets.

It disturbs my sleep. And it is a very uncomfortable feeling because I often have to get up, take a shower,

sometimes change my bedsheets because that's how dripping wet I am from the night sweats. Ronni, what has been your experience with night

sweats and hot flashes? It's been almost 18 years. So I started my premenopausal.

You can't see it right now. But I'm sweating. It's dripping down my arms. I have night sweats every night.

And this happens every night between midnight and 2:00. So I'm normally up three hours a night.

You have to get up. You have to dry off. You know, there's times that I'm outdoors when it's 20 degrees out just because I'm so hot.

How does that translate for you into the next day? I'm very groggy.

Honestly, I can't really sometimes focus at work because I am overly tired because I didn't

get any sleep the night before. And I feel like I also look tired. And for me, I feel like that's one of those things where,

you know, someone may say, oh, my gosh, Tasha, you look like, you know, you need some rest or-- Right, right. --did you well. And I don't want to say the reason why

I look this way, which is a little uncomfortable and sometimes embarrassing, depending on who's asking.

But that's something that I really struggle with getting enough sleep. [AUDIO LOGO]
