Indigestion is not a medical term, but it's often used to indicate stomach upset symptoms like heartburn, nausea or stomach pain. In this video, gastroenterologist Roshini Raj, MD, explains the symptoms that are often connected to indigestion.
Indigestion is not a medical term, it is a term used by many people to just indicate stomach upset when they are not truly feeling well, but it could signify nausea, heart burn or stomach pain, it's a little bit vague and not really used in the medical world. When people use the term indigestion, I always ask them, what are you feeling exactly and how often are you feeling it? It's normal to once in a while have a bit of an upset stomach or some heart burn after eating, but if it's happening frequently your indigestion might be a sign of something more serious going on, leaky gut or even an ulcer, so you should always discuss it with your doctor.
