Watch as Obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Evelyn Minaya discusses how oral contraceptives can affect uterine fibroids.
They cause the American contraceptive and gynecology put out a special bulletin about a year and a half ago on how oral contraceptives can help stabilize the growth of fibroids. I know that sounds really confusing, but believe it or not, because we're taking some hormones which are in every single birth control pill, it actually suppresses or decreases the amount of circulating hormones that you have thereby stabilizing that fibroid.
Oral contraceptives are a wonderful alternative for surgery for fibroids.
