An annual check-up is a good opportunity to share any changes in your health and well-being with your doctor, says Elizabeth Poynor, MD, PhD, a gynecologist-oncologist in New York City.
There are some organisations now and especially in other countries, the annual visit is not, people are not proponents of the annual visit. I think it's a nice time especially for women to review with their healthcare providers, are you having any abnormal discharge, are you having any abnormal bleeding because not every woman knows the early warning signs and symptoms of a malignancy, and so that this provides them not only time to review wellness interventions, but also ongoing symptoms.
Elizabeth Poynor, MD, PhD, FACOG is a gynecologic oncologist and pelvic surgeon. Her solo practice focuses on the care of woman at elevated risk of cancer based on abnormal Pap smear, medical history, or family history of cancer.
