Can I Wash My Face Too Much?
Many people think that the more they wash their face, the better; but over-washing can disrupt the balance of the skin and cause dryness. In this video, dermatologist Cybele Fishman, MD, shares her tips for washing up and the best products to use.

I think a lot of patients think
that washing their face more is better. Like, I'm going to get it really clean. And the skin really doesn't work that way. There are a lot of natural oils in the skin that
are very important to maintain on the skin. They have anti-bacterial properties. They help moisturize the skin.
And sometimes, the worst offenders are people with oily skin. They wash their face so much in the hopes of getting the oil off that they over-dry their face
and irritate it. So, I'm a big believer in just washing your face at night. In the morning, I just use water. At night, I recommend, even if you have oily skin,
a sulfate free, detergent free cleanser that's creamy and doesn't foam up because the foam is a detergent. And really, who wants to put that on their face?
