Electronic medical records face challenges. Major EMR developers have no incentive to share connectivity with other systems and healthcare providers, explains HealthMaker Naser Partovi. In this video, he discusses why this is a problem.
Electronic medical record is a step in that direction not in it's present form because the big players in that system whether it's Epic, Cerna and everybody else, have no incentive to allow any other system to connect to them and to share information back and forth. And they're all hiding behind patient data security but that's an excuse.
And I think sooner or later the banking industry has connected every single ATM together, why can't we connect all the hospitals together? And why can't we have all the doctors with the right permission to be able to download every patient record and know if I go to a hospital, I have hospital data if I go to see my doctor at the same hospital he doesn't have the information about the hospitalization.
This is 2013, it's just unbelievable.
