Does Modern Health Care Require an Engaged Consumer?

I really believe that and I think there's quite honestly a disconnect in the political environment between the right and the left, and I think they're absolute dispositions that need to be reconciled but there is kind of on the right a belief that consumers armed with high deductable plans will solve the world and the laugh there is this belief that know only a benevolent government of protecting consumers, for the very first dollar of expenditures and acceptable way to think about health system.

I think the answer, the solution, the truth, is somewhere in the middle. So we do need to have kind of down constraints if you like or in incentives on institutions but we have to have consumers engaged not only in their own health but in their own decision making about how to engage with the health care system, I think we have to have both.
