Hi. I'm Dr. Miller. It's no surprise that divorce is stressful, or that it can wreak havoc with your sleep. It's normal to have some sleepless nights
for a couple of months when you're going through divorce. But if divorce-related insomnia drags on, get some help,
or your blood pressure could suffer. A new study of recently divorced or separated people found that the longer volunteers struggled with sleep,
the higher their blood pressure climbed. Those who tossed and turned for 10 weeks or longer were the most likely to have high blood pressure,
and that can be especially dangerous for someone who already has hypertension. So if you're going through a divorce, now's the time to take extra good care of yourself.
Eat right, including lots of fruits and vegetables. A healthy diet is good for blood pressure and sleep. And get plenty of exercise.
That'll help tame stress and keep your blood pressure down. It'll help you sleep better, too. I'm Dr. Miller. For more ways to stay healthy, watch all our smart tips
