[LIGHTHEARTED MUSIC] MELISSA LEVIN: Gluten is hot. Gluten is a complex protein that's found in wheat, barley, and rye.
There's actually interesting new data that shows a link between psoriasis and gluten. Up to 25% of patients with psoriasis
may have a gluten allergy or a gluten sensitivity. This doesn't mean that every patient with psoriasis
should avoid gluten. It means, if you have a proven gluten sensitivity or intolerance that's diagnosed by a blood
test, then decreasing or eliminating gluten from your diet can help not only your digestive system
problems from your gluten sensitivity but also your skin symptoms from your psoriasis.
If you suspect that you may have celiac disease or any sort of sensitivity or intolerance to gluten, it's important to ask your doctor to test you for this,
and this is done with a blood test. If you're truly found to be allergic, intolerant, or sensitive to gluten, eliminating gluten
from your diet can not only help your digestive symptoms from celiac disease but also perhaps could help your skin
symptoms from your psoriasis. [WHOOSHES, HEART BEAT THUMPS, BEEPS]
