Dealing with psoriasis, people really don't understand what it is. Having to stay home because the pain is unbearable,
people tend to think you're lazy. They pass judgment. [GENTLE MUSIC]
My psoriasis has affected my ability to work. Sometimes I do have to stay home because of pain.
I don't feel like my workplace takes my condition seriously because they don't physically see the pain that I'm going through.
So it's as if it doesn't exist. If I wanted to move up within my company, they would look at certain absenteeism.
Eventually, if I needed to get a new position, I may not be able to. It overall does affect my financial situation.
Any company or working place should take into account that everyone that suffers from something,
it may not be visible. As a person of color, I do feel that there is a little bit of stigma when I say that I'm in pain.
People just automatically assume that I want some type of pain medication. [AUDIO LOGO]
