I was the type of kid that Summer, Fall, and Spring, I always had long sleeves and long pants on. I didn't want anybody to see it.
[MUSIC PLAYING] Being a kid with psoriasis is brutal.
I don't wish that on anyone. You have all sorts of nicknames. People stare at you. And you start getting down on yourself.
I wasn't the time to go home, they called me this, they said this. You know, I just held it in. And I think, you know, by holding things in,
it causes a bigger stress problem, which aggravates the psoriasis. I've tried all different types of treatments.
It was a point in time when I was a child that it used to take me two and a half to three hours to get ready for bed. I'd have to start at like 6:30, put
a lotion on for a half hour, take a shower, wash that off. Put a lotion on, sleep with that. In the morning, get up, wash that off.
So I literally was the cleanest kid in school. [LAUGHS] I've been on biologics for the past five years now.
Going from a boy who started out with almost 90% of his body covered to someone who is 85% cleared
at this point, with a blotch here or a blotch there, it's a huge improvement. When the treatment started to work,
it was an amazing feeling. That's like being in the World Series and you hitting a home run to win.
You're ecstatic. Never give up and always say, I'll try. I'll try this. I'll try that. Something somewhere will help you.
