I think two things stand out for me about how biologics have changed the lives of my psoriasis patients.
One, they don't need phototherapy as much anymore. Phototherapy is when you go into the office
and you stand in front of a UVB light booth, and it helps reduce the inflammation in your skin and helps reduce your psoriasis.
The problem with phototherapy is that it does increase the photodamage to your skin, and that can lead to skin cancers.
So I've seen fewer skin cancers since the advent of biologics now that they've replaced the phototherapy booths.
The second thing is the freedom that our psoriasis patients have when their psoriasis is treated well
they're no longer totally focused on their skin they have the freedom to go on with their lives and have really successful careers and family lives.
